May 2008: 4th FEMIP –
TUNISIA Conference. Tunisia, “Microfinance
in the Mediterranean: What is
its impact?”
The
European Investment Bank (EIB)
and Sanabel, the network of microfinance
institutions in Arabic countries,
come together to organise the
4th FEMIP conference.
The FEMIP Conference will take
place the 5th May 2008 and will
precede the 5th Annual Sanabel
Conference which will take place
from 6th to 8th May 2008. Both
events will take place at the
Hotel Barcelo in Gammarth, in
the suburbs of Tunisia. This conference
will reunite almost 300 high level
participants coming from 37 partner
Euromediterranean countries: political
decision makers, microfinance
institution and civil society
organisation representatives,
researchers and academic experts;
representatives from the private
and banking sectors; they will
share their points of view and
experiences with first plan orators
on the following subjects:

Methods and indicators allowing
to measure the impact of microfinance,
·
The professionnalisation of micro
finance,
·
The link between microfinance
and migrant fund transfers,
·
The growing implication of the
private sector.

conference
at the Polytech’Nice-Sophia
school (Templiers site) in Sophia
Antipolis.
Richard M Stallman is a programmer
as well as a free software activist
and advocate. He is at the origin
of the GNU project and for the
GNU general public license also
known under the acronym GPL. Since
the mid 90s, he has dedicated
a lot of his time in promoting
free software to a wide public
throughout the world. In recent
years, he has launched a campaign
against software patents and digital
rights management (DRM). This
conference is open to all interested
