The
Foundation Sophia Antipolis'participation
in international manifestations
Capital
financing of innovative
companies, French-German
exchanges and European
perspectives.
The Foundation Sophia
Antipolis co-organised
on the 26th June 2007
at the CCI of Paris,
in liaison with the
Minister of Higher Education
and Research, the AFAST,
the Chambers of Commerce
and the Industry of
Paris and the Bundenministerium
für Wirtschaft
und Technologie a conference
on the subject of “Capital
financing of innovative
companies, French-German
exchanges and European
perspectives”.
The theme of the conference
is the availableness
of venture capital for
young companies that
are growing fast in
Germany and France.
We will deal with the
priming stage and the
growth stage. The comparison
of the markets of venture
capital and the way
of working of the main
venture capitalists
in the two countries
will be completed by
the presentation of
the fiscal and juridical
situations.
The seminar supports
the French-German initiatives
that could lead to a
putting in place of
venture capital European
market.

Cambridge, Council of European

1st June 2006.
Laurent
Soulier, director of international
relations and European affairs
was invited to take part
and to lead a round table
conference of European Bio-Regions
which took place on the
1st of June 2006 in Cambridge.
The
Consortium, created from
the inspiration of the European
Commission, composed of
ERBI (Cambridge, Coordinator),
Barcelona, Berlin, Munich,
Heidelberg, Uppsala, Tallinn,
Lyon, and the Ile de France
Region. This meeting enabled
the consortium to advance
significantly on the topic
of: Training, Finance, Business
Development, Communications
and work upon the structuring
and stimulation of the European
Biotechnology Industry.

Stockholm,
Kista Science Park and the
French Embassy in Sweden,
24th August 2006
Laurent
Soulier, director of international
relations and European affairs
was invited by an entity
of Foundation Electrum,
Kista Science City AB in
charge of the activities
of the Swedish park with
the same name. The meeting
provided an opportunity
to evaluate the current
situation in relation to
existing collaborations
between the two parks and
to envisage joint activities,
both economical and cultural.
The
visit was followed by a
meeting at the French Embassy
in order to further develop
possibilities of establishing
such actions and to envisage
from now on integrating
them into economical activities
of the relative embassies,
concerned with the internationalisation
of competitiveness clusters.

Project INNET, coordinated
by OSEO Innovation,
21-22 September 2006,
Paris.
The
Foundation Sophia
Antipolis represented
by Laurent Soulier,
director of international
relations and European
affairs lead a round
table conference on
the topic of clusters
and initiatives supporting
SMEs within clusters
during the meeting
of the launch of the
INNET project. The
project aims to reinforce
collaboration between
public and private
financiers of the
European innovation
policies. The project
targets SMEs of traditional
sectors and their
relations with clusters,
for joint funding
of innovation projects
enabling SMEs to acquire
the technology of
clusters. 19 partners
from 8 countries (France,
Germany, United Kingdom,
Belgium, Italy, Greece,
Spain, and Poland),
representing 8 innovation
agencies and 11 regions
are associated with
this project.

Launching of the 3G+,
10th October 2006
The
Foundation Sophia Antipolis
took part in the manifestation
of the launching of
the “High Speed
mobile, 3G+ and new
usage” on Tuesday
the 10th of October
in Nice in the presence
of Jean-Noël Tronc,
General Director of
Orange France, Bruno
Janet, special Advisor
of the President of
France Telecom, Director
of relations with the
local community, Jean-Claude
Burtin, regional Director
of France Telecom. This
manifestation was accompanied
by demonstrations on
the innovative uses
of a high speed mobile.

Meeting on the launching
of project SWAN, October
2006
The
objective of this meeting
is to bring together
all of the partners
involved in this project
in order to establish
precisely the requirements
and the content of the
training modules.

Launch of the FP7, November
2007
The
Research Framework Programme
is the principal instrument
of the European Union
dedicated to the funding
of research and innovation.
Some Framework Programmes
have been operational
since 1984 and cover
a period of 5 years.
The current Framework
Programme is the 6th
which will come to a
close at the end of
2006. As of the 1st
of January 2007 the
FP7 will be launched,
for a duration of 7years.
On
this particular occasion,
the Ministry of Higher
Education and Research
organised, from the
14th to the 18th of
November, 9 days to
inform people about
the new FP7. A video
of these days was broadcasted,
followed by a debate.
A presentation of the
activities of the European
Commission related to
innovation, SMEs, and
structural and innovation
funds, was lead by the
Foundation Sophia Antipolis
and CERAM.
